I chose to send in this picture because I thought it was pretty cool that I could photograph a bird taking off. It took me lot of photos to succesfully capture a bird in flight.
This is a female cardinal that I got on film. It took a lot patience to have this bird finally show up. I had to be very careful. It would take off at the slightest disturbance.
My class is debating whether this is a Song Sparrow or an American Tree Sparrow. What do you think?

The Citizen Scientists
We are a group of 5th grade students that are studying birds. It will begin with the Great Backyard Bird Count and end with monitoring the school's bluebird boxes. All of our data will go to the Cornell Ornithology Lab. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/
