We were supposed to start with the Great Backyard Bird Count (February 12-15) but we are currently snowed in with school canceled for at least the next two days with the promise of more to come. My Plan B is to still do the count but after we get back, hopefully they will still take our totals. We'll keep you posted.
On a happy note, on our last bird watch we saw a hawk. A hawk that we are still trying to determine. I'm wondering if it was a Red Shouldered Hawk.
Adult Description
- Medium-sized to large hawk.
- Wings and tail striped black and white.
- Underparts barred reddish.
- Pale crescent near wingtips in flight.
