Mrs. Parker's NOTES: I'm back! Today we started keeping our data sheets for the Cornell Ornithology Lab. Our data will go in their data base. We check for eggs, status of young, adult activity, nest status and cowbird activity. We also look to see is any maintenance needs to be done on the boxes. Blog posts about each box are now written by students who are in charge of each box.
BOX ONE
In box one there is nothing. The box has fallen down and someone has put it against a tree. We will need to fix it. We were concerned about snakes being near by.
BOX TWO
We have 5 eggs now!!! We have many questions like when will they hatch? What kind are they? Why did they lay 5 eggs? Will there be any cowbirds? How many will survive? Will our box be the only one with eggs? We did see a bright blue adult come out of the box as we approached. We think it was the father.
BOX 3
That old nest is still there. The other nest is the only one with eggs.
*Mrs. Parker side note: Later that day the very brave Mrs. Lynch came out with me and we cleaned out the old next along with all the insect nests. Hopefully another bird family will find it comfortable now:)

BOX 4
NO NEST. Bummer. But we did get to see a cool little garter snake. He was so small ,but he was fast. None of us freaked out
BOX 5
There was nothing inside our box. It was completely empty. It has not been checked in a long time. There was not even a twig inside.
